On October 21, 1929, Henry Ford hosted Light's Golden Jubilee, an event that celebrated the 50th anniversary of Thomas Edison's invention of the incandescent lamp. Marie Curie--the world-renowned chemist and physicist--was among the guests. Afterward, she sent Ford this letter praising him for hosting the Light's Golden Jubilee event, which he had "planned and carried out so beautifully."

Before leaving America I want to tell you how much pleasure it gave me to be present at the jubilee celebration for Mr. Edison which you planned and carried out so beautifully.
I hope that Mr. Edison is quite well after the emotional strain of the occasion, and that your grandchild is restored to health.
