On October 21, 1929, Henry Ford hosted an event, Light's Golden Jubilee, which celebrated the 50th anniversary of Thomas Edison's invention of the incandescent lamp. John D. Rockefeller, Jr., had planned to stay with Edsel Ford, but when Edsel's son was taken ill, Henry and Clara Ford invited Rockefeller to stay with them. In this letter, Rockefeller thanked the Fords for their "great kindness and delightful hospitality."
