Handcrafted - Dated 1996 / Sculpted by Duane Unruh / The noted Dutch nature artist, Marjolein Bastin, recalls building her first snowman when she was very young: / "I remember rolling big snowballs for the body of the snowman, starting with a small one, and rolling on and on through the garden until it was so big I couldn't roll it anymore. And how difficult it was to place the third ball, his head, on top...." Finally she added some pieces of black coal for buttons and eyes, a big carrot for the nose, and one of her father's old hats. / "Wow, was I proud! I had created something very beautiful that wasn't there one hour ago--just from that pure white snow!"
