The next day, the retailer returned for / another display--his first customer had purchased the display instead / of the products. The retailer continued to order "displays," and other / stores followed. Cowen began offering his "Electric Express" to / consumers, and electric toy trains have made Lionel the favorite of / hobbyists and collectors ever since. / L / LIONEL

THE LEGENDARY LIONEL 700E HUDSON / Selected by Lionel as the centerpiece of its Centennial celebration, the first Hudson / 700E was introduced in 1937. A marvel of its time, the 700E was a highly detailed die-cast / replica in perfect O scale. / The New York Central's J-Class 4-6-4 Hudson, with its classic steam locomotive styling, / was an ideal choice for the landmark Lionel model. It is said to have been the favorite of / Lionel founder Joshua Cowen. It was certainly the pride of the NYC fleet, pulling both / passenger cars and freight along its namesake river. / This dated, commemorative Keepsake Ornament is formed of die-cast metal. The / combination of finishes, including the 22 K. Gold Flash, echo the markings of the 700E J-1E Hudson Steam Locomotive being issue by Lionel in an elaborate Centennial set. / LIONEL (R) Licensed by Lionel L.L.C. / Mfd. for Hallmark Cards, Inc., Kansas City, MO 64141 / www.hallmark.com / Made in China QXI5261 / For decorative use only.
