Artifact Overview

The automobile became a vital tool in the fight for women's suffrage. Cars allowed suffragists to travel more widely, spreading their message to audiences in several cities each day. Cars also served as mobile podiums and billboards for the cause. Women secured the national right to vote with the ratification of the 19th Amendment in 1920.
