Known as the Vagabonds, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, Harvey Firestone, and John Burroughs embarked on numerous camping trips between 1916 and 1924. In this photograph, Edison sits in his preferred position -- the front passenger seat. As designated leader, Edison chose the routes and navigated the camping party through the countryside, often avoiding main roads.
