The Greenfield Villager was a regular publication of the Edison Institute created for its employees. First published in 1951, the newspaper kept employees abreast of institutional special events and acquisitions and provided information about employee recreational and educational opportunities, work benefits, and personal milestones. The last issue of The Greenfield Villager came out in 1981.

ArtifactReplica of Stephenson's 1829 "Rocket" Locomotive
When England's Liverpool and Manchester Railway held a contest in 1829 to find the best locomotive design for its line, George Stephenson's Rocket took the prize. The Rocket's horizontal boiler, with cylinders directly connected to its driving wheels, set the standard pattern for all subsequent locomotives. Henry Ford commissioned this replica from the original builders in 1928.
ArtifactTorch Lake Steam Locomotive, 1873
Torch Lake, built by Mason Machine Works in 1873, hauled ore for the Calumet and Hecla Mining Company on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. The engine is an articulated design. The driving wheels pivot under the boiler, allowing the locomotive to handle sharp curves. Torch Lake joined The Henry Ford's collection in 1969.
