Architect's Rendering of Ford Motor Company Assembly Plant in Seattle, Washington, 1933

01

Artifact Overview

Ford Motor Company built this Albert Kahn-designed assembly plant in Seattle, Washington. The building's one-story design and its accessibility to river, road, and rail transportation systems promoted production efficiencies that would help lower vehicle costs. Unfortunately, the building was completed in 1932 at the height of the Great Depression. After producing only 2,000 vehicles, assembly stopped.
