- Life Magazine for September 7, 1962, "The Fun of Being Caroline Kennedy" - Americans were enchanted by the young John F. Kennedy family and they wanted to know more, always more. Photographs of any members of the Kennedy family sold magazines but the kids often stole the show. This <em>Life</em> magazine cover featured five-year-old daughter Caroline riding her pony Macaroni.

Americans were enchanted by the young John F. Kennedy family and they wanted to know more, always more. Photographs of any members of the Kennedy family sold magazines but the kids often stole the show. This Life magazine cover featured five-year-old daughter Caroline riding her pony Macaroni.
- Mcclellan Saddle, 1857-1872 - U.S. Army Captain George McClellan designed the McClellan saddle based on his study of European cavalry forces. The saddle was simple and lightweight, but sturdy enough to properly support a rider and gear. The U.S. Army adopted the design in 1859, and it remained in use through the 1940s when American horse-mounted cavalry operations ended.
