The Henry Ford Hosts A Literary Feast: An Evening of Frost & Food inside Greenfield Village, Sept. 25

(Dearborn, MI – Aug. 14, 2019) – On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, join The Henry Ford for an intimate evening in Greenfield Village honoring the most celebrated American poet in history, Robert Frost. The third annual A Literary Feast: An Evening of Frost & Food, brings the past forward with the mastery and influence of Frost’s work blended with notable works by some of today’s most important poets against the beautiful backdrop of Frost’s home in Greenfield Village. This year’s event features Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and Detroit-born Tyehimba Jess and offers a farm to table meal with locally-sourced fare inside the village’s Pavilion on the Green. Upon arrival, guests will climb aboard a horse-drawn carriage or Model T to make their way to the Frost home for cocktails and light refreshments at the very place where the famed poet wrote “Spring Pools” and other classic works. Following, they’ll get to experience Jess’s unconventional and contemporary style embedded in a multi-media presentation at the Pavilion on the Green before sitting down to enjoy a meal of farm-to-table fare from Michigan producers.

Jess’ first book, leadbelly,  is an exploration of the blues musician “Lead Belly” Ledbetter’s life and was chosen for the National Poetry Series and voted one of the top three poetry books of the year by Black Issues Book Review. In 2017, Jess won the Pulitzer Prize for his second book, Olio, which one review defined as “part fact, part fiction….sonnet, song and narrative to examine the lives of mostly unrecorded African American performers." Jess received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2018 and is currently a professor of English at the College of Staten Island.
