Soap Box Derby Racing Helmet, 1935-1945

Summary

The first soap box derby race was held in Dayton, Ohio, in 1934. Over the years, soap box derby cars became more elaborate, as did the safety gear used by participants. This steel helmet promotes Chevrolet's all-steel "turret top" roofs, introduced on its cars for 1936. Chevrolet sponsored the national All-American Soap Box Derby from 1934 to 1972.
