Artifact Overview
Ford Motor Company established a sawmill and factory near Iron Mountain, Michigan, in the early 1920s. It produced wood parts for Ford suppliers who in turn used them to assemble Model T, Model A, and early Ford V-8 bodies. After Ford switched to all-steel sedan bodies in 1937, Iron Mountain built wood station wagon bodies through the 1951 model year.
