Originally located near Columbiana, Ohio, the 1828 house was updated in 1882 to appear more stylish and up-to-date. The traditional Pennsylvania German layout of the Firestone's farmhouse was transformed, with a central foyer, separate dining room and kitchen, a sitting room, closets, wallpaper, and fancy new furniture.

- Restoration Work on the Ackley Covered Bridge in Greenfield Village, October 2, 2000 - Built in Pennsylvania in 1832, Ackley Covered Bridge was reconstructed in Greenfield Village in 1938. Over the decades, this landmark bridge -- one of the oldest in the country -- became structurally unsound. A major restoration project in the fall of 2000 included draining the surrounding pond, replacing rotted beams, stabilizing the bridge, and implementing measures to prevent further damage.

- View of George Washington Carver Taken for Use as Reference for Irving Bacon's Painting of Carver, August 1942 - Henry Ford commissioned his personal artist, Irving Bacon, to paint a portrait of Ford's friend, the agricultural scientist George Washington Carver. Carver sat for the painting during his visit to Dearborn in 1942. This photograph, used as a reference for Bacon to complete the portrait, shows Carver outside the Carver Cabin in Greenfield Village.

Carver sat for the painting during his visit to Dearborn in 1942. This photograph, used as a reference for Bacon to complete the portrait, shows Carver outside the Carver Cabin in Greenfield Village.
