Those with Dementia and Their Care Partners
The Henry Ford is partnering with the Alzheimer's Association Michigan Chapter on a series of Community Connect programs.
The program is designed to provide people living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia and their care partners with a broad range of socialization and culturally significant events and programs.To register for a Community Connect program, please call the Alzheimer's Association at 800.272.3900.
Upcoming Community Connect programs that will take place at The Henry Ford include:
- The Golden Age of Diners, September 23, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
- Wright Home, October 7, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
- Women in Design, November 4, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
- Hockey: Faster than Ever Exhibit, December 3, 2:00-4:00 p.m.
The Henry Ford also offers a moviegoing experience at the Giant Screen Experience that is designed for people with dementia and their care partners/family members/friends. During these movies, the lights in the theater are turned up, the sound is turned down a bit, and attendees are welcome to talk, tap their feet, clap their hands, sing along, etc. Our next dementia-friendly movie will be The Wizard of Oz on November 12, at 2:00 p.m. For more information, please email accessibility@thehenryford.org.
Self-guided Memory Walks for Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation, Greenfield Village and the Ford Rouge Factory Tour are available with conversation starters to begin your explorations. These Memory Walks have been created as a collaboration between The Henry Ford and the Alzheimer's Association Michigan Chapter.
