B-24 Liberator Assembly Line at Ford Willow Run Bomber Plant, 1944
Add to SetSummary
During World War II, Ford built 8,685 B-24 Liberator bombers at Willow Run. The airplanes were assembled on a series of parallel moving assembly lines. Near the end of the process, planes from two lines were turned 90 degrees on turntables and merged into a single final line -- to accommodate the corner in Willow Run's L-shaped factory building.
