Floor Lamp, 1899-1901

Summary

Tiffany Studios acquired a bronze foundry in 1897, allowing them to produce bases for large-scale floor lamps. When this lamp was made, the company was still experimenting, evolving from creating elaborate table lamps into producing elegant floor lamps too. This lamp with its sinuous, Art Nouveau surface decoration and shimmering iridescent shade likely graced a sumptuously decorated parlor or library.
