Edsel Ford and Eugene T. "Bob" Gregorie enjoyed a successful working relationship. Hired by Edsel Ford in 1932, Gregorie became the first head of Ford's design department three years later. Together they produced the 1936 Lincoln Zephyr and the 1939 Lincoln Continental. Gregorie left the company after Edsel Ford's death in 1943, though he briefly returned later in the decade.
