Summary

In 1910, Ford Motor Company built its first branch assembly plant in Kansas City, Missouri. Workers there completed final assembly of Model T chassis and bodies shipped from Ford's main Highland Park plant near Detroit, Michigan. Kansas City became the prototype for a network of branch assembly plants that Ford built around the country and ultimately around the world.
