Kinsey's Toy Building Blocks, 1875-1885

Summary

Children could build their own creation or construct one of the illustrated forms with this set of building blocks. Patented in 1875, the swastika's interlocking shape held the structures securely together--a plus for construction toys. In the 19th century the swastika held many positive meanings--including "good luck." Only later in the mid-20th century would it become a symbol of hate.
