"A Bit of the Rouge River," Michigan, circa 1910

Summary

This photograph shows a section of Metro Detroit's River Rouge in 1910, around the time Henry Ford selected it as the site for a new factory. To accommodate large ships that would bring in raw materials or take finished product for delivery from the Ford Rouge plant, the lower part of the river had to be channelized, widened, and dredged.
