Historically, Pikes Peak - near Colorado Springs in the Colorado Rocky Mountains - has drawn many tourists. In the late nineteenth century, the Cascade and Pikes Peak Toll Road Company opened a rough passage up the mountain for paying customers in mule-drawn carriages. By the 1920s, travelers could climb Pikes Peak in their own automobiles--then take home this souvenir.
