Gil Andersen (1879-1935) was born in Norway and immigrated to the United States. Andersen raced in the first six runnings of the Indianapolis 500. While he never won the race, Andersen led 18 laps in the 1913 event, and 26 laps in 1915. He often drove Stutz cars in competition. Andersen is pictured here in 1912.
