Painting by A. Sheldon Pennoyer Used in Ford Advertising, Henry Ford with Quadricycle outside Bagley Avenue Workshop

Summary

Artist Albert Pennoyer showed Henry Ford pushing his Quadricycle from the shed behind his house on Detroit's Bagley Avenue. Pennoyer emphasized the little car's novelty by including a horse and buggy -- and two skeptical onlookers -- in the scene. Ford and friends built the gasoline-powered Quadricycle in that shed, and Ford first drove it on June 4, 1896.
