Ken Miles Driving Shelby Cobra at the 11th Annual International Bahamas Speed Weeks, November - December 1964

Summary

Shelby American built fewer than 1,000 Cobras from 1962-1967. But CSX 2196, seen here, was unique. It was the only Cobra equipped with a 390-cubic-inch Ford V-8. Built under the direction of race driver Ken Miles, CSX 2196 proved that a big-block engine could work in the small, lightweight Cobra. Subsequent big-block Cobras used Ford's 427-cubic-inch V-8.
