Summary

The first California Grand Prix took place in 1976 at Sears Point Raceway (renamed Sonoma Raceway in 2012). The sports car race continued under various series through 2008. Briton James Weaver won in 1995 for American team Dyson Racing. That year's race was presented by Apple Computer, headquartered at the other end of San Francisco Bay in Cupertino, California.
