Ford GPA Amphibious Jeep, 1943

Summary

Like other American automakers, Ford Motor Company built vehicles and materiel for the Allied effort during World War II. Amphibious jeeps were assembled at the company's River Rouge complex. Though it shared parts with the road-going GPW jeep, the amphibious version had a longer wheelbase and weighed some 800 pounds more. Ford built 12,781 amphibious jeeps from 1942 to 1943.
