Ford Model T Car Bodies Being Painted at the Highland Park Plant, 1915

Summary

Contrary to popular belief, not all Ford Model T cars were painted black. Multiple colors were available in the model's early years, and color options returned on the final 1926-27 cars. But starting in 1914, Ford did institute a black-only policy. Black paint was inexpensive and durable, and using just one color simplified the manufacturing process.
