Wanting to cash in on the developing tractor market, General Motors purchased the manufacturer of the Samson Model M. It was built between 1920 and 1922. After sustaining substantial losses, General Motors liquidated the Samson Company and converted its Janesville, Wisconsin, facilities into a Chevrolet assembly plant.
