Shirley is part of the award-winning Left Behind… documentary series that uncovers the overlooked and often forgotten stories of trailblazing women who helped shape automotive history and motorsports from the earliest days of the automobile to the modern era. The series celebrates women who raced on unpaved roads, set speed records, mastered mechanical innovation, used automobiles as tools for social change, and shattered barriers in male-dominated spaces—often making international headlines while later being reduced to footnotes in history. Left Behind restores these women to their rightful place in history, celebrating their courage, ingenuity, and lasting impact on mobility, sport, and society.
